Filler time

Busy again, and probably will be for a few days yet... which makes it "dig up some random art" time~

I started doing these "body practice" sketches a while ago to practice reproducing poses I hadn't chosen myself. Basically I just grabbed a load of random photos of people (since its the internet, it was mostly asian women I don't recognise), and then I try to reproduce the same pose (without tracing), with various details changed for extra learning-ness.

I can't draw wrinkles, and the arm moved a little, but this one is otherwise about right?...

GH manager no nee-san

I also managed to get a bit busy, and missed yesterdays post!!

Still a little busy today, so I'll post in two parts. And no, that's not just so that my post count stays in check. It's ALSO because of that, but not only... :p

"Ara..."
First part is the line art for a bust of the Guild Hall manager in MHF2.
Next time: Coloured? :O maybe...

Rucky Stal

No time

Tried doing some pressure-varied lines Penny Arcade-style, but either the tablet can't register changes very quickly or I'm rubbish, as it didn't vary smoothly with large changes in pressure. Guess I'll post it for the sake of posting because Icey's a slavedriver

BTW its Konata Izumi

A cowboy in modern times

Meet America Jim.

He's a superhero cowboy who protects the world.

I first drew what would later become Jim back in 1st year university. Since then he's fought giant spiders, a troupe of murderous Russian clowns, and even a daemonic psychic mime.

He even has a radio show, where he goes to Japan, gets a free sword from the customs officials (they took it from the lost and found), and then meets his fated sidekick, Ichiban a genetically modified super-intelligent monkey.

Good times.

[Shaiandra] has come online.

Rawr! I'm "Shaiandra," a friend of Isaque's and I'll be posting my artwork here!

... Though I recently got a new computer, so I don't have my scanner set up yet (and need to find the software for it...), and don't have Photoshop on here yet, so it may be a while before you see art regularly from me... So for now, I'll put up an old piece or two... and apparently I haven't uploaded anything recently, so make that a very old piece.

That's one of the more plain pictures I've done, but there aren't many better pieces I've uploaded in the last two years...

I usually don't draw much on the computer; pretty much only when I feel like changing my desktop wallpaper, and that's once or twice a year... Contributing to this art-blog though should give me more inspiration though, so hopefully you'll hear from me again soon!

Until next time!

You got boost power!

Another one of my favorite games, F-Zero.
It looks like a racing game, but it's really not.

It's a fighting game.

A fighting game where you brawl with superheroes and bounty hunters in futuristic machines, while whipping around a track at speeds over 1200kph. Some people try to play it like a racing game, and sure they can get first place... but that's missing the point. What you really need is 29 skulls, one for each opponent you take out. That's how you really win at F-Zero.

Featured is my favourite machine, the Fire Stingray, piloted by Samurai Goroh. Somehow it's slight oversteer and resulting drift fits perfectly with my driving style.
To the left is the Blue Falcon, piloted by none other than Goroh's eternal rival: Captain Falcon.

I'm looking forward to what the Wii has to bring to the future of F-Zero.
...and still waiting on that F-Zero DS :(

You got heavy damage!

This time it's Cypher from Virtual-On Oratorio Trangram.

Still in progress... don't usually paint like this, so it was a lot slower than I would have liked. I'll put the finished one up another day (that's not cheating, right?)

Bri

Briareos from Appleseed, since I just got the last 2 books (Databook and ID). Shouldn't have bothered trying his weird insect-like armour since I was in a hurry, although its ok for the time spent. Pity about his weird slouch.

Also, notice how I scribbled on it a bit since that's how you draw Shirow stuff.

FIRST

Nangerjoe~

This is supposed to be a daily artblog, but being honest the only way that'll ever happen is if I do more than one thing a day to stay caught up... which will never happen. I'll try to stay above 50% at least...

BTW image character is Aya Shameimaru.

A new year and a new blog

akeome
It's a bit late, but Happy New Year!

To start off this artblog, here's a piece of new years art. It's a Japanese new year's postcard called a "nengajou". If you're a Monster Hunter player, you might recognize this situation. If you're not, you better start playing it coz you're really missing out.

The red text says Jouzuni Akemashita which is a mix of:
  • Jouzuni Yakemashita ("well cooked!" from when you successfully cook meat in Monster Hunter)
  • Akemashite Omedetou (congratulations on opening [the new year])
The blue text basically says "let's get along this year too"

This blog is meant to help us exercise our art muscle. Theoretically there will be at least one piece of art posted here every day from now on. By posting some art every day we can improve our skill, show off our work, and keep an archive of our progress.

If you want to get involved, just drop me a line. The more the merrier, probably!
